Saints on a winning streak

BAMBILL are on a five-match undefeated streak, with former ladder leader Cardross their latest victims in Millewa A Grade netball.

The Lions began the season like a house on fire but the 51-35 result on their home deck marks their second loss in three matches, pushing them down to third on the table.

The Saints have won four matches and secured a draw in their past five fixtures, which ensures the top four of the competition are only separated by two points after six round rounds.

Samantha Garraway, Mikayla Mole and Kaylie Monaghan played starring roles for Bambill, while Darcie Gray, Tiffany Douglas and Jessica Pratt were the better performers for Cardross.

Meanwhile, reigning premiers Werrimull have leapfrogged the Saints to the top of the ladder following a dominant victory over Gol Gol.

The Magpies’ slightly superior percentage following their 70-39 win at Lake Cullulleraine moved them ahead.

Rachel Thomas, Erin Sell and Maddison Maher were star performers for the victors, while Jessemy Thornton, Ebonee Newson and Jemma Lawn were the Hawks’ best players.

At Nangiloc, the home side returned to the winners’ list following a tough contest against Meringur.

Last year’s grand finalists ensured they remained in lock-step with the top four and gained an important four points in the 38-32 win.

Gabrielle Gardner, Chloe Nelson and Ginine Sluiter were best for the Demons, while Meringur were best served by Kimberley Harlock, Fionna Wright and Lakayla Pettit.
