Natural talent reaps employee of the month award

A GARDENER has been named employee of the month for April by Sunraysia Regional Consulting, also known as SRC.

The non-for-profit organisation focuses on improving employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians.

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare reported that the employment rate in the 2021 census for First Nations peoples aged 25-64 was 56 per cent.

To increase job opportunities, SRC developed an Indigenous employment program to assist First Nations jobseekers with securing employment across the municipality.

It’s achieved by mentoring trainees, as well as providing pre-employment education, and post-placement support.

One of these participants, Timothy King, was awarded the employee of the month honour by SRC for his hard work as a gardener with Jim’s Mowing Mildura.

Mr King commenced employment with the lawn-care service in January and has been described as a quick learner who shows initiative when undertaking work duties.

The strong commitment to fulfilling customer needs has been reportedly bolstered by his friendly and accommodating manner.

Chair of SRC Don Carrazza congratulated Mr King on his accomplishments as part of his employment.

Mr Carrazza expressed his pleasure in presenting him with a certificate and a cheque in celebration of his efforts.
