WERRIMULL’S claims for the Millewa A Grade netball minor premiership have been strengthened following their tight two-goal win over Bambill in a top-of-the-table clash.

The headline game from Saturday’s Mega Day was befitting a contest between the teams leading the way for a finals double chance, with the Magpies earning with a 38-36 victory.

Werrimull are undefeated since round 2, with only a draw against the Saints in round 4 standing between them and a perfect record in their last nine games.

Aislinn Campbell, Anna Thomson and Erin Sell were named as the best players for the victors, while 200-gamer Ebony Roberts, Samantha Garraway and Maddy Tormey led the way for the Saints.

Nangiloc have moved to within six points of second-placed Bambill after winning their own thriller at Lake Cullulleraine, coming against Cardross.

The Demons took down the Lions for the second time this season but it was close, 36-34.

Meanwhile, Meringur have kept their finals hopes alive with their third win for the campaign, taking down Gol Gol by 24 goals.

The Roos sit two wins behind fourth-placed Cardross with four home-and-away matches remaining following their 64-40 result against the Hawks.

Teagan Pettigrew, Fionna Wright and Lakayla Pettit were all named Meringur’s best, while coach Megan Newey, Suzi Nitschke and Abbey Curran performed well for Gol Gol.
