Hit a home run of festive fun

EAGLES Baseball Club will seek to spread their wings, and festive cheer this winter, with a charity toy drive.

It’s the third time the event has run and club treasurer Mahayla Pay said it has always been an important part of the Eagles’ annual Christmas in July event.

“It’s a way for us to give back to the community,” she said.

“It’s good to know we can help put a smile on the faces of those children and families in need at Christmas time.”

The club have asked for donations of any new, unwanted, or unused toys with things collected set to be given to St Vincent de Paul Society’s Christmas toy drive.

“There’ll be a Christmas tree on the night that people can put the toys under,” Ms Pay said.

Set for this Saturday at the Mildura Golf Resort, the Eagles’ Christmas in July event is a major fundraiser for the volunteer-run club and open to people of all ages.

Activities for the night will include a live auction, $100 door prize, and raffle draws, as well as a special visit from Santa.

There’s also a new advent calendar draw of only 25 tickets, for a night’s accommodation at the Euston Resort, as well as a voucher for Station 46 cafe, bar, and bistro.

“I’m looking forward to enjoying the atmosphere,” Ms Pay said.

“Last year was a really good night, there was lots of fun to be had, and everyone really got around it.

“Each year we hope it will get bigger.”

The Eagles Baseball Club Christmas in July event will be held on Saturday, July 27 at the Mildura Golf Resort.

Tickets can be purchased online through the club’s Facebook page or the What’s On Mildura website.
