Mannix leads Saints

BAMBILL have regained top spot on the Millewa A Grade netball ladder from Werrimull as only percentage separates the two sides with one round remaining in the home-and-away season.

The Saints earned the bragging rights over the Magpies ahead of their qualifying final match-up in two weeks time, claiming a 51-42 victory at Mildura Senior College on Saturday.

Both teams will finish inside the top two, however the minor premiership is still up for grabs, although Werrimull will need to make up six percentage points.

Elizabeth Mannix was named as Bambill’s best in the victory, while Kaylie Monaghan and Samantha Garraway continued their consistent seasons.

Brooke Watson, Maddison Maher and Tammie Ehms were best performed for the Magpies.

Nangiloc and Cardross will also meet in the first week of finals in an eliminator, and the Demons will hope for a repeat of Saturday’s performance.

Recovering after a loss to Werrimull last week, Nangiloc proved too strong at home for the Lions with a 53-41 result, marking four wins in their last five games.

Gabrielle Gardner has been a regular feature in the Demons best players during their current run of form and was again at the weekend, alongside Tamara Loveridge and Chloe Nelson.

Bronte Burgess, Christina Villiva and Tamara Hamence flew the flag for the Lions.

Meringur, meanwhile, grabbed their fourth victory of the season at Lake Cullullerine with a 56-41 win over Gol Gol.

Fionna Wright, Teagan Pettigrew and Bella Connell were the best performed players for the Roos who have put together a solid season.

Jemma Lawn, Suzi Nitschke and Abbey Curran were top performers for the Hawks who have one more match to avoid a winless season.
