MALLEE firefighters have used water bombing aircraft to contain one of three fires started by lightning on Friday night.

Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) fire management staff battled to contain two fires in the Mallee and helped South Australian authorities contain a third fire south of Pinnaroo.
