A MILDURA teenager has been detained by a former Married At First Sight contestant after he was allegedly armed with a machete in Melbourne.

Tim Smith performed a citizen's arrest to restrain the boy following reports of teenage boys chasing each other down a street in Prahran on Friday afternoon.
