AN eagle-eyed astro photographer in Mildura spotted a suspected fireball that carved its way through the night sky on Wednesday.

Peter Cooper was trying to take pictures of Jupiter as it was rising while he was stargazing at about 11.15pm, when he heard a loud crack from over his shoulder.
