Huge rainfall figures across district

A TREE has fallen on a car at Nichols Point, as Sunraysia is soaked by heavy rain.

No injuries were reported from the incident, in front of the Nichols Point Store on Fifth Street.

Almost 55mm of rain had fallen on Mildura by 1.30pm,  as storms also moved through the southern Mallee.

By 1.30pm on Thursday, 54.8mm had been recorded at Mildura Airport. A deluge of 75.2mm had been recorded at Swan Hill by the same time, and Kerang had recorded 52mm up to 9am.

No official figures were available for Ouyen, but Walpeup had recorded 27..8mm by 1.30pm.

According to Lower Murray Water gauges, Merbein had received 48.4mm by 2pm on Thursday, Red Cliffs had received 60.8mm, and Nangiloc had copped a whopping 80.6mm.

To the north the BoM recorded 55mm at Pooncarie.

Central Victoria has also been heavily hit by the rain, with falls of more than 50mm recorded at many centres in a triangle between Echuca, Ballarat and Wodonga.
