LA Trobe University has stepped in to help keep the future nursing workforce in training despite South Australia's border closure.

Chantelle Frankcombe is a second-year nursing student with South Australian-based Flinders University, who would normally study at the university's campus in Renmark.

Previously she would commute to the South Australian town for her studies without any issue.
