MEMBER for Mildura Ali Cupper wants "unrestricted access" for Sunraysia communities on both sides of the border between New South Wales and Victoria as soon as possible.

Ms Cupper issued a statement on Monday after a border closure, to take effect Tuesday night, was announced.

She said the closure would cause "significant anxiety for people in communities on both sides of the Murray".
